Just got a call today letting me know I have to report to the Scranton Armory at 2:30 AM on Monday morning.... ahhh. I live an hour away, so I'm thinking I'm just, uh, not going to sleep that night, lol. I'll sleep on the plane ride. Apparently, we have to be at the Allentown Airport at 5 AM, and that's kind of far away, so that's why we have to arrive so friggin' early.
I'm going to spend 3 weeks in Camp Shelby doing God-knows-what (I'm guessing a PT test, and weapons qualification, at least), and then I'll be home 'til September 19th, at which time I officially get mobilized and start this shit all over again. But hey, at least I'll have some money rolling in! Yay!

Our cat had kittens!!! *SQUEE* She had three little babies yesterday morning, two boys and one girl, and they're absolutely adorable, I'm in love with them. I'm trying to find my digital camera so I can upload some pictures of them! So cute :)
Stole this from Camille....
1. Your fav fandom? Supernatural, definitely. Absolutely amazing characters played by really great actors, and storylines that far surpass any of the other crap on the CW! For fanfiction though, I've gotta go with Power Rangers. I wrote for that series way more than I do for anything else! Specifically, Time Force (love it) but also some Lost Galaxy and a little MMPR.
2. Your fave pairing(s)? Why? Absolute favorite --- Wes/Eric, look no further than cmar's post to explain why! The chemistry between Jason Faunt and Daniel Southworth was so amazing that you'd think they were told to play it off as if they were victims of a bad love affair. Second to them --- Jen/Alex, they just seem perfect for each other, especially by the end of the season, both were so driven and serious about their work, and they really loved each other... *sigh*
3. Pairing(s) you hate the most? Why? I HATE the Tommy/Kimberly pairing more than any other! Ugh, just absolutely NO reason for those two to be together except to "look cute" ... they didn't share anything except being Power Rangers, Tommy was shy and dedicated, a martial artist, Kimberly was a typical Valley Girl who literally worried about broken nails. Ick. Dishonorable mentions go out to Ashley/Andros (she was just too immature for him... much like T/K) and Kendrix/Leo (same thing).
4. First fic ever? A crappy little Smallville fic called "Legends" ... first PR fic was Time Force, "Too Late", was about if the Rangers didn't make it back in time to save Wes and was around 500 words long!
5. What genre(s) suits you the most? I think probably drama/romance... and definitely a lot of angst. I'd like to be good at comedy, but it's not really my strong spot.
6. Numbers of your fics when you do this meme? Only 47 on Fanfiction.Net right now, but there used to be over 60... I just deleted some.
7. Your fav authors? why? This is an easy one for me... I love Camille's stories for being amazing all around, great emotion, action, drama, comedy... pretty much everything! Dagmar is incredible, as well, if you've read any of her stories you don't need me to explain. I love Rick and Shirley's stuff, too... and, of course, my sister's! She's awesome.
8. Ever thought your fics are good? Some of them are pretty good.... some of them SUCK.
9. Ever received criticism for your fics? Did that affect you? I've received a boatload of criticism, most especially from a girl who used to read my Star Trek stories and went through just about every sentence and broke it down into little pieces... could be painful, but was worth it. Camille has always offered very good criticism, too. I've improved on my sentence construction a lot, and just my overall writing as improved because of them :)
10. Are you famous among the other authors? Hahaha..... no!

Well, the Army decided to make the hard decisions for me! No choice anymore, I'm going back to Iraq. I'm going to SRP on June 24th, which should take about 4 days and is meant to check me out to see whether or not I can deploy; then I'll come home and spend as much time as possible with my family, before leaving in October to go to training, and landing in Iraq in January.
In a warped, twisted way.... this is almost good news. I don't have to make the decision myself, which means Myriah won't resent me for choosing to go, and of course, I did kind of want to be with my friends who are going over, plus the money ain't bad. Still, it's hard. I'd forgotten how hard, actually! Myriah's upset, she's out with Mom talking about it, and it's weird, I feel more upset about now than I did before, too, even though I was still planning on deploying. I guess it's knowing that I have no choice, I can't change my mind.
I'll stay safe, just like last time, and come home in one piece (hopefully in better mental condition than before, too!) to party-hardy with all my friends (Myriah will be 21 by then!!!) It'll all be okay in the end. We've done it before, and we can do it again :)

So last night I got a call from my best friend, Caitlin, who was inviting me out for a night with the girls, but also informed me that another friend, Nicole, is on the list to get deployed to Iraq with the 56th Stryker Brigade in October. Caitlin, and another girl, Kacie, are volunteering to go with her so she doesn't have to go alone. So they're leaving in October, landing in Iraq in January. It's kind of like an unspoken pact between all of us that if one gets pulled for a deployment, we ALL do.
I guess you all know where I'm going with this.... I haven't actually made any decisions yet because this isn't the kind of thing you just jump on without thinking about it, but I've already told my mom and she's supportive, and I talked to Myriah, and she took it better than I thought she would. I have mentioned to her in the past that if Caitlin went overseas I would go, too. So really, it does look as if I'll probably be going over there again....
Hey, who knows? Maybe Obama will win the election and he'll pull all the troops out! :)

Myriah went in for surgery yesterday morning.... they called it a "trigger finger release" and the plan was to cut and stretch the tendons in her hand so they would allow her to move her fingers again, which have been curled under since December or so. The doctor, Dr. Rich, explained he would make a tiny cut on her hand and hopefully do all the work there, but--- if need be ---go up into her fingers.
So we got to the center at 9:00 o'clock in the morning, and they took her in right away to start filling out paperwork and such, so that was nice; everything move really quickly, something we weren't expecting, but quarter to 10 they had her hooked up to an IV and Mom and I visited with her for a couple minutes before they took her away. She had a local anesthetic and was heavily sedated, but told us afterward that she woke up twice during the surgery, although she could only really remember once. The whole thing was supposed to take only 20 minutes, but it ended up being an hour before Dr. Rich came out and told us that everything went great, except instead of going up into her finger, they went into her wrist to lengthen a tendon down there that was too short. About a half-hour after that, we went in to see her and she was doing fine, still drugged up and shakey, but eating some crackers and drinking some water; only about fifteen minutes later, we were allowed to take her home.
She has a huge bandage around her hand and arm and that has to stay in place for 10 days, which will drive her crazy, I'm sure; but she's already said how nice it is to see her fingers stretched out again (they were placed in a splint). Yesterday afternoon was good, even after the drugs wore off she took a Vicodin and seemed to be doing okay, but today she's in a lot of pain, which is to be expected. One of the nurses said today would be the worst, but afterward it will all steadily get better. Myriah can't wait to get back into dance again, and find a job.... she's even thinking about trying to get into the Army again, something she hasn't considered in a long time because she was so immobilized.
So anyway.... that's what's going on here! :)

The people at the Emergency Services Center did call me back eventually, and I had a job interview last Thursday; we sat down and talked about what the job would be like, he spent more time explaining to me my salary and vacation time than he did asking me anything. But they seemed impressed by my military service, especially since I was in Iraq, and when they asked me about places in the area I knew most of them (name bridges crossing rivers, how to get where, etc.) I guess all that min-roadtripping with Myriah actually came in handy! Anyway, I'm very hopeful about the job... the only thing that would make me a little sad is you don't get a scheduled shift, you have to different ones all the time, so I'd have to give up dancing. But hey, being a grown-up isn't always fun.
I went and looked at a truck Saturday... a 1988 Ford Lariat F250. The guy was nice, the truck had no rust damage, but something about it just didn't feel right to me. It was a really loud truck, for one thing, and that had me concerned. I ended up going with my gut and turning it down, which I'm happy about. It was $1,500 and if I'm gonna spend that kind of money, I want it to be a GOOD truck that I like.
I really want to go see that movie "Stop Loss" soon, but they're not playing it in theaters near here till after next week, arggh.... Myriah and I have been itching to go see a movie, the last one we saw was "P.S. I Love You" which kinda sucked, but we only watched it 'cuz Gerard Butler (yum) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (YUMMY) were in it. "Stop Loss" actually looks good, and it's an issue not a lot of people are aware of. When I got deployed, I knew a girl whose contract had been involuntarily extended to the year 2031!
I'm taking Myriah to the doctor today so she can get a physical to determine whether or not she's healthy enough to have surgery next week, which I'm sure she will be. Next Tuesday, at a time we still don't know of, she'll have surgery done on her hand to see if it can finally be fixed up so she can use it again; she had to leave Wal*Mart awhile ago because of it, they told her if she wouldn't take on more hours they wouldn't let her work anymore, and she couldn't so she had to quit. And then the people at Wal*Mart claimed Myriah never told them about her injury so her unemployment request was rejected. That bitch of a store manager, LeAnn.... I swear to God I'm gonna rip her a new one the next time I see her. I won't get violent.... not physically anyway. But she sure as hell is gonna know what I think about her and her spray tan, bleached blonde, California self. She was always a bitch to Myriah, but this time she's gone too far and anyone who knows me knows how I get when someone does something wrong to my family... like I said, no violence is necessary, just some harsh words. I'm writing a Supernatural/Power Rangers crossover fic with my friend, Mary T., who I've been beta-reading for since last summer. We're hoping to get it posted tomorrow. It takes place during Time Force, right before the Fight Against Fate arc--- a bunch of vampires come to Silver Hills and end up teaming up with Ransik, but they're followed by Sam and Dean Winchester, and Mary's creation, Celia Northwind. Since the Rangers have no idea how to deal with vampires, they team up with the hunters. But there's gonna be a lot of friction.... I'm excited about it :)

I've been longing to write for quite some time now, and I finally came up with a couple plot bunnies and managed to write them out! The first is a little oneshot about Wes and Jen's relationship, and the second is a drabble after I finished watching the Anne of Green Gables movies for the umpteenth time, it's about Gilbert's recovery from scarlet fever and his desire to be with Anne.
Please check either of them out, and leave a review! :)

I got a call from Jeff today, from the Emergency Services Center, and he said he got my application and is interested, and we set up an interview for next Thursday at 1 pm! I'm so excited, I really want this job, and I was starting to worry because it's been 2 weeks since I sent in my application... *is jittery* Now I just have to find something suitable to wear for a job interview....

You are about 20 years old | The teen repellent will no longer foil you, but you can still hear some pretty high tones. The highest pitched ultrasonic mosquito ringtone that I can hear is 16.7kHz | | Find out which ultrasonic ringtones you can hear! |
Huh....I did better than I hoped! Maybe my hearing is finally coming back....
I sent in my application to the Emergency Services Center the Monday before last, I'm hoping to get a job there as a 911 dispatcher; the people seem nice, the work is important, and the pay is VERY good. Alas, no callback yet :( Still, I'm hopeful. And if that doesn't work out, I guess I'll stop by the jail and see if they're still hiring for 12 hour guard shifts. It's funny, all those Army commercials always talk about how the military will give you "job experience" for your future life as a civilian---but as of yet, my knowledge of weapons operating systems hasn't really come in handy, lol.
I'm also still looking for a truck....I keep browsing Craig's List but nothing yet....
Myriah went to the doctor the beginning of this week to get her hand checked out again (she can't move the two last fingers of her left hand) and it turns out she's going to need surgery on it, argh....the date will probably be in about 2-3 weeks. They're only giving her a local anesthetic and a sedative, so she's a little nervous about that. The doctor is being wonderful about payment plans though, since we don't have any insurance; it's supposed to be $800 for him, but if we can come up with half of that by the day of the surgery, he'll forget about the rest. And if we can pay the whole $1,900 for the surgery by then, we'll get 25% off. So that's good. And hopefully Myriah's hand will finally be fixed up, it's been giving her problems since last summer.
I have drill this weekend, ugh. I have to go up to the armory tonight at 6 and then take a bus to Fort Indiantown Gap, then tomorrow I'll be on the range just in case any of the weapons break down (chances of that happening are slim). Hopefully I'll at least be allowed to read while I'm out there, no point sitting around watching people fire! Shouldn't be too bad of a weekend....oh, except for the bad omen I got yesterday. I drove all the way up to Scranton (about 45 minutes) to get my gear for the weekend, opened up my locker and it wasn't there. I was worried someone had stolen it. So I came back home, and voila! All my gear was in the back room. I sure hope that isn't how the rest of the weekend turns out! LOL
On the fanfiction front, I've started working on Premonition and (*gasp*) Jennifer! Oh yes, I'm giving it another try, though I don't think it will be posted for quite some time. So far it has a promising beginning though, and I'm enjoying writing it, so hopefully it won't be too long before I can put it up and get some feedback!
Anyhoo, I've gotta get going....still need to pack for tonight!

A very big "Thank You" to the person that nominated Veritas for the PR Heroes Alternate Universe Story Award! I was browsing through the nominations and was very surprised to see my story listed there, what fun! :)
In other news....I'm looking for a truck! I found a 1987 Chevy 1500 for $2,500 but I couldn't afford it till the income tax check comes next week (after adding everything up, I was still $500 short....I miss deployment pay, lol) and now it's gone, so it's back to looking for me. Hopefully I can find something good, for a decent price. Definitely needs to have 4-wheel drive, preferrably a crew cab, at least 8" bed, and (*crosses fingers*) less than 10 years older; yes, I'm being picky, lol, I don't want to get stuck with something lousy. And if the job at the jail pans out (*crosses fingers again*), I'll be making some decent money soon so.....we'll see how things work out!

The holidays have been insanely busy for me this year! Rushing around trying to find gifts for family (15-year-old brother's are a pain in the ass to shop for, btw), preparing for a play I'm in next week, putting up decorations....it's been so much fun. Though, for once, I'm not going to be all that sad when it's over, it might actually be nice to return to normality and not have all this stuff to do! LOL
Anyway, little recap of December.....I was still pretty sick for drill weekend, but made it through with no major incidents, and now it's all done 'n over with and I'm better. Myriah was in a show with the high school a couple days ago (she was a last minute replacement when a girl dropped out, she did it as a favor to the choreographer, who's a good friend of our's). It was really good, I went and watched and had a good time. Our next show is this coming weekend, it's called "The Christmas Schooner" and the script is just awesome. A lot of great songs, too, some with 6-part harmonies! I'm excited about it.
We've been getting a lot of snow lately so I was hoping for a white Christmas (finally!) but it's beginning to look like not so much, it's supposed to rain today and the snow is already beginning to melt :( But I guess we're expecting a little snow tomorrow (Christmas Eve!!! AHHHH!!!) so maybe... *crosses fingers* I love snow, hehe.
We're set for the holiday, gonna make a big dinner and pies, Kimberly and her new boyfriend Andy are coming over Christmas Day, which should be interesting. And we're thinking about going to see a movie sometime in the afternoon, "Alvin & The Chipmunks" most likely, it looks cute. I can't wait, the holiday is always so much fun, it's just about the only time anymore we can all get together as a family and not want to kill each other.
So anyhoo....Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all my LJ friends! I love you!!!!

Oh...my...god :(
I'm usually a very, very healthy person, I get sick at the most one or two times a year, just a little cold that I get over in about a day; but since yesterday afternoon, by head has been throbbing, my stomach has been upset, I've been dizzy, and freezing. It's so weird. I woke up at 6:30 this morning though, and I was so hot I had to go downstairs and sleep on the couch, but I couldn't sleep because my head hurt so bad; I took 3 Aspirin, but they didn't help.
And of course, I had to get this sick the day before a drill weekend! So I have to get up at six tomorrow morning, and do Army crap all day; hopefully, I won't feel so bad but I don't know, it's weird. I don't have a fever, either....actually, earlier my temperature was too low. I have no idea what's wrong... Ugh.

Myriah and I received an early Christmas gift yesterday in the form of a new muffler for the Impala (I might have mentioned a couple months back that we got a new muffler....well, the car has two); Mom paid for it, after we put it on our Christmas gift list, lol. We're being very practical this year, I mean, I'm 21 and she's 19, it's not like we need a bunch of gifts under the tree; Mom loves doing that though, so we wanted to have something to ask for. It was really nice of her to pay for it though, we're thrilled :) And in not so great news....it appears we were victims of a random act of violence! It's kind of funny actually, but mostly just really annoying, and kind of scary. Myriah, me, and Aaron were at the dance studio Tuesday night, when someone decided to take a tire iron/baseball bat/something to the back window of our '88 Mercury Colonial Park station wagon! We got in the car and Myriah glanced in the rearview mirror and saw a bigass hole in the window, then it shattered into the car. Craziness. We have no idea who did it, probably a group of teens trying to be cool, or acting on a dare, I don't think it was personal. Still, makes me kind of nervous about parking the Impala out there, we have a custom back window, it'd be a pain to replace. As it turned out, it's gonna be hard enough to replace the Mercury's window!
There's snow all over up here, I love it....even though the roads have turned the Impala into a mess. Still, it makes it feel like Christmas. Last weekend was the Library Christmas Show, we performed a dance to "Amazing Grace" with our dance teacher, Kim, and our friends---Hali, Amanda, and Jake. It went terribly at the dress rehearsal, but really well Saturday night, and then we got snowed in on Sunday and it was cancelled. It was a good time though :)
Oh yeah, and I dyed my hair again, hehe....I used super lightening cream and it turned out dozens of shades of red, I love it. It's so much fun.
Happy Holidays!!!!

So first of all, the reason I'm so pissed off right now is because I'm going to shovel out some more money to buy two new tires for the Impala, since they are both showing some extreme wear and Dad has banned us from driving our own vehicle. Now, it happens, so it's not really that that has me so annoyed, I love the Impala, I'd do anything for it :) What angers me is for sometime now Dad has known the front passenger-side tire has been riding kind of low and would be wearing down, but neglected to mention anything to us until today when all of the sudden (as we were walking out the door, mind you) he says: "You can't take the Impala." Which leaves the whole family with only ONE vehicle (another story altogether....) So instead of telling us awhile ago that hey, we need to keep an eye out for that tire, and set aside some money for it, he just sprang it on us all of the sudden with no warning. ARGH!
Now, to explain why we only have one car. While I was at annual training in Fort Pickett, Mom bought a new used car, a Nissan (with my money, without my knowledge, of course), a cute car that ran well. She was thrilled with it. Until it decided to literally blow up one day after stalling on the way home from work, the engine burst into flames and it took the fire department to get it out. So that left us with the Impala, and Dad's Mercury Colonial Park station wagon. Until now.....
Which brings me to ANOTHER rant, Mom taking my money! While I was deployed, I know she used a lot of it because I came home with less than $10,000 while everyone else had $20,000+, and what the heck would I spend it on in Iraq? She spent it on hospital bills because she and Dad were sick, and I guess other stuff to help around the house, which didn't really bother me because I don't mind helping out, as long as I get paid back eventually. But there are definitely NO signs of that ever happening. Every now and then she'll put like $50 back into my account, but she has no system for paying me back, she doesn't even know how much she owes then. Then she refuses to help Myriah pay for the Impala, so I paid all $1,800 for it myself. And then she took my money and bought herself a car, also using my money for the repairs on it! Over $1,500!!! Then, all of the sudden, she just bought herself a $700 computer. Now why the hell can she afford to buy a stupid computer but has to take my money for everything else? Ugh, I swear to God.....and I just can't bring myself to talk to her about it without feeling like I'm being a bitch, because I know when she first started taking my money they really needed it. All I can say is, on the next deployment, Myriah is going to be my power of attorney and NO ONE is allowed to touch my money.
*takes deep breath*
Onto happier news.....Roy is finally doing better. Last week he collapsed and hasn't been able to walk since then, so we took him to the vet and found out he has a thyroid problem. But now he's walking again and can go outside, which means we no longer have to clean up his messes on the floor, thank God. He's such a sweet dog, I know he hated going on the floor.
Myriah and I finished our Christmas Show dance, and it's awesome. We're dancing to the theme song from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and she is Halloween, and I'm Christmas, and we comically battle it out because Halloween's not ready to move over and let Christmas come in. Then at the end Aaron steps up dressed as Thanksgiving and tells us to BOTH get out of the way because it's HIS turn. We kind of figured out that part because everyone always forgets about Thanksgiving. It's really funny, auditions are tomorrow and I can't wait :D
I started working on my new TF story "Premonition", but for some reason the chapter got messed up and just turned into a bunch of little boxes instead of words :( I hadn't written anything too big yet, just some fluff to start out, but it was still kind of annoying. I'm working on getting over a 3-year dry spell here, and stuff like that doesn't help.....I'm also trying my hand at more "Supernatural" fanfiction (a show that premieres again on Oct. 4th, I can't wait!!!!!!!)
Anyway, that's all for now. Later, folks.

So I'm off with the Army again! But this time it's only for a few weeks, so no big deal. I'm going down to Fort Pickett, VA with my unit to do "annual training", not really sure what I'll be doing there, but I'm pretty sure I won't have internet access :( Argh. Hopefully we'll be allowed to go off-base when we're not on-duty....but who knows? Anyways, I have very mixed feelings about it. Part of me is not looking forward to it at all, it's gonna be hot as hell, I'm probably gonna have to peel a few ticks off me, and pretty much anything involving the Army is NOT fun, lol....however, I am happy to be getting paid, hehe, and I do kind of wanna get out of the house for awhile. I'm experiencing some severe cabin fever, lol :) Don't get me wrong, collecting unemployment after being on the deployment has been nice, but boring.
So with that, when I return from Pickett, I plan on looking into a career in law enforcement, not a state cop, just a local one. I can't imagine getting a "civilian" job like working at Wal*Mart or even someplace like Procter & Gamble, I just don't think I'm suited for it....but if I have to, I'll do that for a little while. I would really like to be a cop. I'm not sure what the training is for a hometown cop, I think I'll have to get into the Police Academy and it's like 6 weeks or something, but it would be worth it, I'm sure. There are only 2 cops in my town as it is, it's not like we couldn't use it! LOL :) And it'd be nice to do something worthwhile.
And on a completely different note, the Impala needs a new muffler :( It's hanging down. But it's okay, because it passed inspection so the highly expensive body work we were NOT looking forward to can wait awhile....a long while. It needs both quarter panels replaced, and it's something we definitely want to get done, the rust and holes just look like crap and both me and Myriah really want to take good care of the car....but now that we know we don't have to get it done in the next few weeks, I'm not so worried.
Anyhoo, talk to y'all later!

So Power Morphicon is going on right now in LA, it was something I was hoping to be able to attend when they first released the dates over a year ago, I figured after the deployment I'd have enough money saved up to make the 3,000-some mile trip. Well, for one reason or another....I didn't have as much as I expected to, and plans fell through. No big deal.
Austin St. John signed up to be one of the guests, and I was even more disappointed, as I've had a fangirl crush on him since the early days when I woke up every Saturday morning to watch MMPR. Still, I was happy to at least see some updated pics/videos of him! Turns out he became a firefighter/paramedic, he gained a lot of weight, but he looks good :)
And now I just found out that Daniel Southworth showed up today as a surprise guest... *sighs*
LOL, I'm not really all that broken up about it....though I am disappointed. I'm hopeful that if the convention goes well, they'll do it again, if not next year, then maybe for the 20th Anniversary. It'd be great if they could do it on the East Coast, too. So maybe next time....
Until then, I will most definitely enjoy the pics/videos!!!!

So this is it!!! While we were waiting for Mom to make up her mind about the Beretta, Myriah and I happened to stumble upon this find....a 1973 Chevrolet Impala, our DREAM CAR. We've wanted a big, badass car like this for many years now, ever since we were little kids and Dad used to take us out in his '72 Buick LeSabre. And now...IT'S OUR'S.
It was $1,800, which was an amazingly good price for an old car in good condition, with only 70,000 miles on it (woohoo!!!) There's a little rust around the edges of the driver's side back wheel, but nothing major, no holes. It runs beautifully, purrs like a kitten. It even has good heat and A/C, hehe :) It's everything we could've ever wanted, I'm sooooooo happy.
And we look HOT in it, lol.
